U.S. Senate Election in Michigan
MDTF’s Trilateral Approach to Senate Debates
The Michigan Debate Task Force (MDTF) will host three debates with candidates for United States Senate.
Senate Debate #1: September 12, 2024
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Senate Debate #2: October 10, 2024
Location: Traverse City, MI
Senate Debate #3: October 22, 2024
Location: Detroit, MI
From the beginning of the Task Force’s work, we have maintained that it is of critical importance to respect and celebrate the geographic diversity of our state by making these debates representative of all of Michigan voters.
Each of the three locations capture this rich diversity of the state.
The dates for all three debates were carefully scheduled around key election cycle dates in order to to maximize their impact, and promote a more informed Michigan electorate in 2024.
The first debate will occur in West Michigan; importantly, it will be before any absentee ballots are sent to voters.
The second debate will be in Northern Michigan, and is scheduled to take place before early voting begins in Michigan.
The third (and final) debate will take place in Southeast Michigan and is slated for two weeks before Election Day.
Our intention behind the dates is to allow voters to hear from the candidates directly about issues and concerns no matter how they wish to cast their ballot.
